Ed will be deeply missed. He was an unconventional visionary and never one to sit still. Before corporate culture was popular, he created and maintained a culture at J.D. Edwards that included honoring God as a corporate ideal.
He saw J.D. Edwards grow from three to over 5,200 employees in over 107 countries before it was eventually purchased by PeopleSoft/Oracle in 2002. Today, an entire ecosystem of partners and customers tribute J.D. Edwards for changing the trajectory of their careers and lives. Rather than enjoy a traditional retirement, Ed and Kylee took on another entrepreneurial venture together: Nextworld.
Ed shocked a lot of people when they learned he had started another ERP company. Nextworld is founded on Ed’s vision of well-architected software, and a culture that values long-term relationships.
We at Nextworld are grateful for Ed’s passion for life. He inspired us all with his strong vision and generosity. Though he had incredible philanthropic and business successes, it was always clear that the most important things to Ed were family and faith.
Surviving Mr. McVaney is his devoted wife of 57 years, Carole; children, Kylee and her husband Gerry, Kevin and his wife Colleen and Keith and his wife Suzie, all of Denver, Colorado, as well as nine deeply loved grandchildren (Samuel, Ben, Victoria, Charlie, Josh, Colman, Caroline, Thomas, and Rose Marie).
